Antoinette Forbes missing person case: Details of past abuse emerge

Antoinette Forbes, a Washington, D.C. mother who has been missing since September 4, is at the center of a developing investigation as details of past domestic violence emerge. Her sister, Aileen, stated the family was unaware of a violent 2021 assault involving Forbes’ former partner, Russell Ashford.

Court records from Maryland indicate that Ashford pleaded guilty to first-degree assault in 2021 after an argument turned physical. Prosecutors alleged that Ashford threw Forbes into a staircase and repeatedly punched her and slammed her head against the floor until she lost consciousness. The attack reportedly ended only after a neighbor intervened. Medical evaluations noted that Forbes suffered multiple facial fractures, eye damage, a concussion, and a broken finger, resulting in permanent injuries to her eye and hand.

Ashford, 65, was recently arrested in Pennsylvania for an alleged probation violation involving the couple’s 10-year-old son. While Ashford is facing charges related to unauthorized custody and probation violations, authorities have clarified that he has not been named as a suspect in the disappearance of Antoinette Forbes. Forbes was reported missing after her car, phone, wallet, and dog were found at her home.
