Antony Catalano reunites with estranged wife as domestic‑violence trial proceeds

Australian media proprietor Antony Catalano has reconciled with his estranged wife Stefanie while awaiting a Melbourne Magistrates’ Court hearing over a March 13 assault at their St Kilda penthouse. Police allege Catalano swung a clothes iron at his wife’s head, unlawfully imprisoned her, threatened to stab her and caused a broken tailbone. He faces eight charges, including assault, false imprisonment and making threats to kill.

Sources say the couple have moved back into their family home in Byron Bay and were seen together at their children’s sporting events and in Melbourne. Catalano secured a variation of his strict bail conditions to travel to Byron Bay and is due back in court next month. He has stepped down from running Australian Community Media, which he co‑owns with Alex Waislitz, and several of his luxury properties have been listed for sale.

The case has drawn comment from Victoria’s former victims‑of‑crime commissioner, who urged support for the wife and cautioned against judgment.
