Antony Catalano domestic‑violence case

Overview

In March 2026 Catalano was charged after an alleged assault on his wife Stefanie in St Kilda. He appeared by video link in May, was granted bail and allowed travel to Byron Bay, where the couple were reported to have reconciled. Subsequent court appearances in July kept the bail conditions in place while he completed a $17.35 million purchase of the commercial component of the Bonovo by Raes luxury resort.

By early August 2026 Catalano lodged an application with the Byron Shire Council to demolish the family home at Wategos Beach and construct a third luxury residence on an adjacent 780‑square‑metre site. The plan would create a $67 million three‑home estate covering more than 5,200 square metres of beachfront property. The existing house, bought for $9 million in 2023 and held in Stefanie’s name, is mortgaged to Westpac. Catalano intends to spend about $4.1 million on demolition and construction, adding to the $54 million already allocated for the two‑house phase. All three homes are designed by Fitzroy‑based Rob Kennon Architects. The proposal has drawn objections from local residents despite the area’s concentration of wealthy owners.
