ANTT approves major highway concession projects in Brazil

The Brazilian National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) has approved two major highway concession projects as part of the 5th Stage of the Federal Highway Concessions Program.

The Rota 2 de Julho project involves 653.3 kilometers of the BR-116 and BR-324 highways in Bahia, connecting Feira de Santana to Salvador and the Minas Gerais border. The 30-year contract estimates R$ 14.33 billion in investments, with R$ 10.52 billion planned for the first eight years. Key works include over 300 kilometers of road duplication and the implementation of a Free Flow electronic tolling system.

The Rota Agro Central project (Lote CN3) covers 887.6 kilometers of the BR-070, BR-174, and BR-364 highways, spanning from Cuiabá to Vilhena. This 30-year concession involves R$ 6.13 billion in infrastructure investments and R$ 4.30 billion in operational and maintenance costs. The project also features the Free Flow tolling model and is designed to integrate with future regional railway expansions.
