ANTT approves plate-based toll voucher model by NDD TECH
The Brazilian National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) has approved a new operational model for Mandatory Toll Vouchers (VPO) developed by NDD TECH in partnership with MeuPedágio. The model utilizes Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology to automatically identify vehicle license plates.
Published in the Official Gazette on September 11, 2026, the decision (SUROC nº 550) allows license plates to serve as the automatic identification element within the VPO workflow. This integration associates vehicle passages with electronic records, aiming to increase traceability, simplicity, and automation for transporters, shippers, and concessionaires.
While NDD TECH has been an authorized VPO provider since October 2020, this specific regulatory decision approves the methodology for plate-based identification. The new system is designed to coexist with existing regional or local VPO models.
