Anutin Charnvirakul visits flooded Bangkok districts to distribute aid

Thai Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul conducted late-night visits to flood-stricken areas in Bangkok, including the Saimai and Bang Kapi districts, to distribute essential supplies and monitor relief efforts. The government has allocated approximately 4 billion baht to support flood victims and compensation.

During his visit to the Saimai district, Anutin distributed food, water, and survival kits to residents in housing estates where water levels had persisted for several days. The visit drew political scrutiny after footage circulated online showing the Prime Minister handing out personal cash to residents. Anutin clarified that he provided the money because the prepared survival kits had run out and he wanted to assist those who had traveled far to meet him.

In response to criticism from opposition MP Rakchanok Srinok regarding the transparency of the cash handouts, Anutin defended his actions, stating the money was his own and that he was focused on humanitarian aid rather than politics. Meanwhile, residents in several Bangkok districts continue to report shortages of food, electricity, and clean water as they navigate deep floodwaters.
