Thailand flood relief: PM Anutin visits flooded Bangkok communities
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has conducted multiple visits to flood-affected areas in Thailand, including the Khlong Chan Housing Estate in Bangkok and the Rom Klao community in Lat Krabang. During his visits, Anutin distributed food, drinking water, and survival kits to residents via boat. At the Khlong Chan flats, where water levels reached approximately 1.5 meters, the Prime Minister faced verbal criticism and jeers from some residents regarding the government's handling of the crisis, though he did not respond to the outbursts.
Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt noted that while water levels in general areas may recede within 3 to 4 days, specific heavily impacted communities may require up to 7 days to drain. Drainage efforts are currently focused on the Saen Saep, Lat Phrao, Prawet Buriram, and Prem Prachakorn canals.
In response to the flooding, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) Region 6 in Khon Kaen dispatched machinery and 16 personnel to support relief efforts in Prachinburi. Additionally, Public Health Minister Pattana Prompat distributed Doxycycline to cabinet members as a preventative measure against leptospirosis following their field visits to flood zones.
