Anwar Ibrahim launches entrepreneurship scheme in Kedah

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has officially launched the Skim Usahawan Bangkit Negeri Kedah in Anak Bukit, Kedah. The initiative aims to empower small traders, hawkers, and home-based entrepreneurs to expand their businesses and increase family incomes.

Under the Geran Sejahtera MADANI program, more than 1,000 entrepreneurs are expected to receive equipment assistance valued at up to RM5,000. The grant is specifically targeted at the B40 group registered in the e-Kasih system or those receiving government aid. Nearly 2,000 applications were received for the scheme.

Anwar emphasized that while the nation pursues large-scale investments in technology, AI, and semiconductors, the survival of local small traders must not be compromised. He noted that small businesses, ranging from food stalls to hotels, serve as the economic pulse of the people and provide livelihoods for hundreds of thousands of citizens.
