Anwar Ibrahim signals youth support in 2027 Budget

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has signaled that the upcoming 2027 Budget, scheduled for presentation on October 9, will include specific allocations aimed at supporting Malaysian youth. Speaking at the Youth Economic Forum 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, the Prime Minister emphasized that the government is listening to the concerns of university students, particularly regarding the high cost of education and food insecurity among low-income students.

In a separate address at the National Student Icon Awards 2026 in Putrajaya, Anwar challenged Generation Z to use their education to address societal inequalities and combat corruption. He noted that recent national scandals have shown that high academic qualifications do not prevent individuals from engaging in misconduct. He urged students to remain connected to the needs of the people rather than existing in academic isolation.
