Anwar Ibrahim thanks coalition partners for continued support

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed gratitude to the parties in the MADANI Government coalition – Barisan Nasional (BN), Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) – for pledging to remain united until the end of the administration’s term. The appreciation was conveyed during a cabinet meeting and a post‑Cabinet press conference, underscoring the priority of safeguarding the people’s interests and enabling the government to focus on economic challenges stemming from the West Asia crisis while protecting welfare.

Government spokesperson Datuk Fahmi Fadzil reiterated the thanks, noting the coalition’s commitment and highlighting a recent initiative by the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers to survey sectoral challenges. He also addressed policy matters, stating that the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission will engage with media on proposed social‑media age verification for users under 16, using existing identification documents such as MyKad, with personal data protection laws applicable. Anwar hinted that persistent tensions could lead to an early general election, but coalition leaders have so far reaffirmed their support.
