Anzio hosts 13th Palio del Mare sailing regatta

On Sunday, 5 July 2026, Anzio held the 13th edition of the Palio del Mare sailing regatta. The competition, organized by the Associazione Palio del Mare Anzio APS, featured J24 class boats provided by local yacht clubs and involved crews from each city neighborhood.

The event is part of the broader Palio del Mare celebration, which also includes a historic reenactment of the 1697 founding of modern Anzio by Pope Innocent X. The regatta aims to promote maritime culture, civic pride, and historical awareness among residents, especially younger generations. It received support from the municipal administration, the port authority, local merchants, religious, and military associations.

The race concluded with medals awarded to the winning crews, reinforcing the community‑building and cultural objectives of the festival.
