Aomori National Sports Festival begins pre-period competitions

Pre-period competitions for the 80th National Sports Festival, also known as the ‘Aomori Kokuspo’, began on September 3 in Aomori Prefecture.

Various regional delegations have begun participating in the preliminary events. The Tochigi Prefecture Sports Association has released its roster of 115 athletes and coaches participating in two phases of pre-period competitions held between September and October. Scheduled sports include swimming, rowing, hockey, volleyball, gymnastics, sailing, sumo, shooting, golf, triathlon, and cycling. Similarly, the Akita Prefecture delegation has also begun its scheduled competitions as part of the festival's lead-up.
