Grand Sumo Autumn Basho: Onosho wins while Onosato suffers setback
During the fourth day of the Grand Sumo Autumn Basho at Ryogoku Kokugikan, several key wrestlers faced critical moments. Ozeki Kirishima continues his campaign, while Sekiwake Atamifuji seeks to recover from a recent loss to avoid a losing streak.
Ozeki Onosho has started the tournament with consecutive wins despite returning from injury. Although he has not participated in full training sessions with other top-ranked wrestlers, he expressed confidence in his body's movement. However, Chairman Hakkaku noted that his performance still appears “awkward” and requires more quality.
In contrast, Yokozuna Onosato suffered a setback after being pushed down by Takayasu. Observers noted a recurring tendency for Onosato to retreat during initial contact rather than driving forward, marking his 14th kinboshi (gold star) given to a lower-ranked wrestler in eight Yokozuna tournaments. Onosato stated he intends to focus on moving forward in subsequent matches.
