A.P. Møller‑Mærsk reports weekly share buy‑back transactions as Danish firms ramp up buy‑backs

A.P. Møller‑Mærsk announced a share repurchase programme of up to DKK 6.3 billion (about USD 1 billion) to be carried out over twelve months, with the first phase running from 9 February to 5 August 2026. The company disclosed transactions for the week of 1–5 June 2026, buying back 25 398 A‑shares and 175 452 B‑shares worth a total of DKK 1.5 billion, representing roughly 1.37 % of its share capital.

In the same period, several other Danish listed companies completed or launched buy‑back programmes. Nordea, Novo Nordisk, Ringkjøbing Landbobank and Vestas concluded buy‑backs in May that returned DKK 9.15 billion to shareholders, while eleven new programmes were initiated, including further buy‑backs by Novo Nordisk, Ringkjøbing Landbobank and Vestas. Analysts note that such programmes act as indirect dividends and can bolster share prices by signalling ample free cash.

Overall, the surge in buy‑back activity reflects strong liquidity among Denmark’s large corporations and a strategic use of excess cash to support shareholder returns.
