Apapa Customs records N28.1 billion in single-day revenue

The Nigeria Customs Service’s Apapa Area Command recorded a single-day revenue collection of N28.1 billion on August 18, 2026. This figure represents a nearly 40% increase over the command’s previous record of N20.1 billion, which was set in September 2025.

This surge follows a strong performance in July, where the command closed with N323 billion in revenue. The Apapa port complex serves as a critical maritime hub and a primary gateway for imports and exports in Nigeria, making its revenue generation vital for the federal government’s efforts to bolster non-oil revenue streams.

Customs Area Controller Emmanuel Oshoba attributed the improved performance to increased compliance, trade reforms, intelligence-led enforcement, and the expanded use of digital processes. The command aims to continue increasing government revenue while maintaining efficient cargo processing to avoid obstacles for legitimate trade.
