Apara Ekadashi Festival Observed May 13, 2026

Apara Ekadashi, a Hindu fast observed on the 11th day of the bright half of Jyeshtha month, falls on 13 May 2026. The day is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is celebrated with a strict fast, puja, and recitation of the Vrat Katha.

According to scripture, Lord Krishna told Arjun that observing this vrat removes grave sins, grants wealth and virtue, and yields spiritual merit equal to pilgrimages to Kedarnath, Badrinath or donating cows and gold. Legends linked to the fast include the story of King Mahidhwaj, whose restless spirit was freed when a sage dedicated the vrata’s merit to him.

Devotees believe the observance brings prosperity, happiness and liberation from past misdeeds, and they often perform charity and read the sacred tale to honor the deity.
