Aparecida Sanctuary welcomes pilgrimages from Petrópolis Diocese and Radio Catedral

The Diocese of Petrópolis marked its 80th anniversary on 1 August with a diocesan pilgrimage to the National Sanctuary of Our Lady Aparecida. Bishop Dom Joel Portella Amado led the celebration, which included a Holy Mass, the coronation of Our Lady, and recognition of 25 years of ministry for priests Adenilson Silva Ferreira and João Marcos José. Seminarians participated prominently, underscoring the launch of the Diocese’s Vocational Month.

Separately, Radio Catedral made its first pilgrimage to the same sanctuary on 21 July, bringing 40 “Friends of the Radio” from Rio de Janeiro. The group toured the basilica, attended a guided visit, and celebrated Mass in the Chapel of the Apostles, presided over by canon Omar Raposo. The homily highlighted the role of women in the Church, linking the pilgrimage to the station’s evangelizing mission.
