Apartment explosion in Zografou sends two to hospital

An explosion occurred on Tuesday night in an apartment located at 99 Papagou Street in the Zografou area of Athens. The blast took place on the second floor of an apartment building, causing material damage to the property.

While authorities initially suspected the possible placement of an explosive device, prompting the deployment of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department (TEEM), preliminary investigations suggest the incident was likely caused by a household appliance.

Two residents, a 33-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, were transported to the hospital as a precaution. The Fire Service has launched a preliminary investigation to determine the exact causes and circumstances of the explosion.
