Apartment fire in Schiffweiler forces evacuation of 24‑resident building

A fire broke out on Friday evening in a first‑floor apartment of a multi‑family house in the Landsweiler district of Schiffweiler, Germany. Police and fire services suspect a technical defect in an air‑conditioning unit as the cause. No people were found inside the burning flat and no injuries were reported.

Around 112 emergency personnel, including firefighters, paramedics, police and utility workers, responded. The entire building, home to 24 registered residents, was evacuated as a precaution. After roughly an hour the blaze was brought under control and investigators are examining the cause.
