Tinubu appoints Ayo Fayose REA chair amid 26 federal agency placements

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced 26 new appointments across ten federal agencies and commissions. Former Ekiti governor Ayo Fayose was named chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), leading a board that includes Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, with the agency’s director‑general Abba Abubakar Aliyu and three existing executive directors remaining in place. Major General Junaid Bindawa was appointed chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, and former Lagos lawmaker Olajumoke Okoya‑Thomas became its secretary. Other notable appointees include Dr Abuh Mohammed (National Population Commission), Dr Akinola Odeyemi (Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading), Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin (Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission), Engineer Julius Oloro (National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation), and Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu (Fiscal Responsibility Commission). The appointments took immediate effect. In the aftermath, Isaac Fayose, brother of Ayo Fayose, questioned the timing of the REA appointment, noting it followed a visit from opposition figure Peter Obi.
