APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting concludes in Hong Kong
The 2026 APEC Finance Ministers’ Meeting (FMM) concluded in Hong Kong after a two-day session on October 20-21. The meeting brought together finance leaders and representatives from APEC member economies and international organizations to discuss regional financial and economic development.
Participants issued the 2026 APEC Finance Ministers’ Joint Statement and the Asia-Pacific Digital Infrastructure Financing Policy Statement. Discussions focused on four key areas: fiscal policies to support livelihood development, financing for digital infrastructure, inclusive finance, and cooperation in youth financial talent exchange.
Other outcomes included a report on fiscal policies for sustainable growth and a collection of practical cases regarding inclusive financial innovation. Hong Kong Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Christopher Hui, noted that the meeting helps Hong Kong expand regional cooperation and leverage its role as a financial hub. The meeting serves to build practical financial results ahead of the APEC Informal Leaders' Meeting scheduled for November in Shenzhen.
