APIA warns Romanian farmers of sanctions for missing 2026 deadlines
The Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture (APIA) has issued a warning to farmers regarding the 2026 Campaign. Failure to comply with specific conditions and deadlines for rural development interventions may result in sanctions and payment penalties.
For the DR-01 intervention (Agri-environment and climate on permanent pastures), mowing deadlines are set for October 15, 2026. Specific windows depend on altitude and package type. For High Natural Value (HNV) pastures, mowing is permitted between June 15 and October 15 for areas below 600 meters, and between July 1 and October 15 for areas at or above 600 meters. Other specific packages, such as those for the 'Crex crex' or butterfly habitats, have distinct seasonal requirements.
Regarding the DR-02 intervention (Agri-environment and climate on arable land), farmers must adhere to rules for green crops. Sowing can occur starting August 1, with deadlines of September 30 for locations above 600 meters and October 15 for locations below 600 meters. To demonstrate compliance, farmers are encouraged to use the GeoFoto APIA application to provide geo-tagged photographs of their work.
