Apidya' Special remake released for modern consoles and PC

ININ Games has released Apidya' Special, a ground-up remake of the 1992 Amiga shoot 'em up classic originally developed by the German studio Kaiko. Developed by Team Apidya, the project avoids emulation, instead rebuilding the game from scratch using 24-bit pixel art to modernize the presentation while maintaining its original identity.

The remake features a remastered soundtrack by legendary composer Chris Hülsbeck, including previously unreleased studio arrangements. Players can choose between a modern widescreen HD mode with parallax effects or a classic 4:3 aspect ratio. To enhance the retro experience, the game includes optional CRT shaders, scanline simulations, and bloom effects.

Gameplay includes five themed worlds, 20 unique bosses, and a two-player cooperative mode where both players control full-sized bees. The title is available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
