Appiatse redevelopment enters final phase with 69 new homes
The redevelopment of Appiatse has entered its final phase, nearly five years after a devastating explosion on January 20, 2022. The disaster claimed 17 lives, injured over 500 people, and displaced hundreds by destroying homes and businesses.
Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, officially commenced the final stage by cutting the sod for 69 new housing units. These units will range from one-bedroom to six-bedroom homes and are designed with green and sustainable features to promote environmental efficiency and community resilience.
The project follows two completed phases: the first delivered 124 housing units, and the second provided compensation for 50 households. This final stage had previously been delayed due to the time required to secure additional land, which the government confirms has now been acquired.
