Apple and Huawei drive smartphone sales as China's market contracts, Taiwan sees Apple surge

In the first half of 2026, China's domestic smartphone market fell 10% year‑on‑year. Only Huawei and Apple recorded growth, with Huawei up 5% and Apple up 6%, while other major brands slipped: OPPO –8%, vivo –14%, Honor –17%, Xiaomi –23% and the remaining manufacturers down 31%.

During the same period, Taiwan's weekly inquiry rankings (7 July – 13 July 2026) showed Apple dominating the top three spots with the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, and six Apple models placed within the top ten. Samsung maintained stable demand with its flagship and mid‑range devices, while Xiaomi's high‑value products remained in the upper‑mid tier.

Both regions highlight a concentration of consumer interest around high‑end Apple devices and a resilient performance by Huawei in China, underscoring a widening gap between leading brands and other manufacturers.
