Apple announces new Mac mini and Mac Studio models alongside upcoming hardware launches

Apple is expanding its hardware lineup with several new product releases. The company has announced new Mac mini models featuring M6 and M5 Pro chips, alongside new Mac Studio models equipped with M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips. Both product lines are scheduled to begin shipping on September 22.

Beyond desktop computers, upcoming releases are expected to include the iPhone 18 Pro, potentially a new foldable iPhone dubbed “iPhone Ultra,” Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4, and AirPods 5. The company is also expected to host its annual fall event on September 9.

There is growing professional interest in Apple's hardware due to its ability to run large AI models locally. The unified memory architecture of Apple Silicon allows for efficient on-device AI processing, which provides significant cost savings compared to cloud-based AI services. Industries such as finance and aviation are exploring these capabilities; for example, Cathay Pacific has utilized iPads with local AI models to assist pilots and crew with manual searches and decision-making in environments with unstable connectivity.
