Apple expands sports broadcasting with MLS and potential FIFA deal

Apple is expanding its footprint in sports broadcasting through strategic rights acquisitions. The company has implemented the MLS Season Pass, a comprehensive streaming package providing worldwide access to Major League Soccer matches without regional blackouts. The service is priced at $14.99 per month or $99 per season, with discounts available for Apple TV+ subscribers.

Additionally, Apple is reportedly nearing an agreement with FIFA to secure worldwide television rights for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. This tournament, a monthlong competition for top global teams, is scheduled to take place in the United States. While the deal's value may be significantly lower than FIFA's initial $4 billion estimate, it represents Apple's continued pursuit of exclusive, unrestricted streaming rights for major international sporting events.
