Apple sports broadcasting and application expansion

Apple is expanding its presence in the sports media landscape through both broadcasting rights and specialized application updates.

The company has established the MLS Season Pass to provide worldwide access to Major League Soccer matches. Furthermore, Apple is reportedly approaching an agreement with FIFA for the worldwide television rights to the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

Complementing these broadcasting efforts, the Apple Sports app has increased its coverage of football leagues. Following a previous expansion, version 4.3 of the application has added seven new leagues, including the Spanish Liga F, the English Women’s Super League, the Turkish Süper Lig, the Austrian Bundesliga, the Greek Super League, the Indian Super League, and the Saudi Pro League. This brings the total number of supported football leagues to 14.

The app provides real-time match updates, such as live scores, lineups, and minute-by-minute activity through Live Activities. While the app focuses on football expansion, it continues to provide data for other sports including Formula 1, NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, tennis, and golf. The latest features require iOS 18 or later and are available on iPhone and Apple Watch.
