Apple HomePod mini 2 introduces new system speaker capabilities

The second-generation HomePod mini features enhanced integration with the Apple ecosystem, allowing it to function as a default system speaker for specific Mac and iPad models. To utilize the device as a stereo system speaker, hardware must support Wi-Fi 6. Compatible Mac models include the 2023 MacBook Pro or later, 2024 MacBook Air or later, and 2023 versions of the Mac mini, Mac Studio, Mac Pro, and iMac Neo. Compatible iPad models include the 11-inch iPad Pro (4th gen) or later, 12.9-inch iPad Pro (6th gen) or later, and iPad Air or iPad mini models equipped with the M2 or A17 Pro chip or newer.

Beyond connectivity, the HomePod mini 2 incorporates the S10 chip and computational audio algorithms to improve bass and dynamic range. The device also leverages Apple Intelligence through compatible iPhones (15 Pro or later) and iPads to provide context-aware Siri assistance. Additionally, the speaker can recognize up to six different voices to provide personalized music suggestions and can be paired with up to four units with the new Apple TV 4K to create an immersive audio experience.
