Apple iOS 26 lets users set any MP3 as iPhone ringtone

Apple’s iOS 26 update simplifies ringtone creation on iPhone by allowing any audio file—MP3, M4A, AAC or WAV—up to 30 seconds to be set directly as a ringtone. The file must be stored in the Files app and cannot be DRM‑protected. Users tap Share → More → Use as ringtone, after which the sound appears in Settings → Sounds & Haptics → Ringtone and can also be assigned to individual contacts. The change eliminates the previous need for GarageBand, a Mac, or a PC and fulfills a long‑standing request from iPhone users. Limitations remain on duration and on protected Apple Music tracks.
