Apple iPhone 17 leads global smartphone sales in Q2 2026

Apple's iPhone 17 series dominated the global smartphone market in the second quarter of 2026. According to research from Counterpoint Research, the standard iPhone 17 was the world's best-selling smartphone, capturing 6 percent of global sales. The iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Pro followed in second and third place, respectively.

Despite an overall 11 percent contraction in the global smartphone market, Apple saw a 5 percent increase in its shipment volumes. Growth was particularly notable in India, Japan, the Middle East, Africa, and South Korea, where sales nearly doubled. Apple also saw success with the iPhone 17e, which benefited from MagSafe support and increased storage capacity.

Apple and Samsung split the global top 10 list, with each company holding five positions. On the Android side, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra emerged as the top-selling model, marking the first time an Ultra flagship led the Android field in a June quarter. Samsung's other top-ranking devices were primarily from the more affordable Galaxy A-series.
