Apple iPhone Loyalty Hits 87% as Android Switches Decline in Q1 2026

Research by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) for the first quarter of 2026 found that 87% of people who bought an iPhone already owned one, up from 84% in the same period a year earlier. At the same time, only 12% of new iPhone purchasers switched from Android, down from 14% the previous year. CIRP notes that the share of Android switchers has been stable between 11% and 15% in recent years, indicating a maturing smartphone market where most users stay within their chosen ecosystem.

Analysts suggest the competition is shifting from acquiring new users to retaining existing ones, with upcoming AI features and hardware such as a rumored foldable iPhone expected to reinforce loyalty further.
