Apple iPhone users can set up emergency Medical ID
iPhone users can utilize the Medical ID feature within the Apple Health app to provide critical information to first responders, even when the device is locked. This setup allows users to share medical history, drug allergies, and emergency contacts during a crisis.
To configure this, users can access Medical ID through the Apple Health app, via settings, or by long-pressing the app icon. Key steps include filling out medical details, selecting emergency contacts from the device's contacts list, and enabling the ‘Show When Locked’ and ‘Share During Emergency Call’ options under Emergency Access. Adding a profile photo can also assist responders in verifying the identity of the information holder.
