iPhone emergency safety and Medical ID features
Overview
Apple provides various emergency safety features and settings for iPhone users through iOS. A central component is the Medical ID feature within the Health app, which enables users to store and share critical information such as blood type, allergies, medications, and health conditions with first responders.
By enabling the ‘Show When Locked’ option, responders can access this data from the passcode screen without unlocking the device. Users can also designate emergency contacts to be notified automatically during events like Crash Detection or through Emergency SOS. Additionally, the ‘Emergency Bypass’ setting allows specific contacts to reach a user even if the device is in silent mode or a Focus mode is active. Users can further enhance this setup by adding a profile photo to assist responders in verifying identity.
