Apple launches AirPods 5 with upgraded active noise cancellation
Apple has released the AirPods 5, featuring upgraded active noise cancellation (ANC) in an open-fit design. The new model utilizes a multi-port acoustic architecture and adaptive EQ to improve sound quality. Compared to the AirPods 4, the ANC performance is reported to be up to 50% more effective at eliminating external noise.
The AirPods 5 are available in two versions: a standard model and a premium version that includes a wireless charging case and touch-sensitive volume swipe controls. The premium model offers improved battery life, providing up to 5 hours of playback with ANC enabled and a total of 22 hours when using the charging case. The device also features IP57 water and dust resistance and is constructed with a high percentage of recycled materials.
In China, the AirPods 5 are priced starting at 999 RMB. Through government subsidy programs in regions including Jiangsu, Jilin, Beijing, Dalian, Hebei, and Yunnan, consumers can purchase the device for as low as 849.15 RMB via JD.com. Additionally, JD.com is offering trade-in incentives for older headphone models.
