Ford to embed Apple Maps in 2027 $30,000 electric pickup and UEV platform
Apple and Ford announced that Apple Maps will be built directly into Ford’s Universal Electric Vehicle (UEV) platform. The first model to receive the native navigation will be a midsize electric pickup priced around $30,000, slated for launch in 2027. Integration uses Apple’s new MapKit for Automotive SDK and will provide turn‑by‑turn directions, natural‑language guidance, real‑time traffic and incident alerts, and EV‑specific routing that includes battery pre‑conditioning for fast‑charging stops. Apple’s road‑level map data will also be leveraged by Ford’s Latitude AI team to enhance the next‑generation BlueCruise hands‑free highway driving system, a step toward more advanced driver‑assist and eventual eyes‑off autonomy. CarPlay will remain available alongside the new native solution. The partnership makes Ford the first automaker to embed Apple Maps natively, signaling Apple’s expansion into automotive mapping services.
