Apple opens Apple Music Hall at London's Battersea Power Station
Apple has announced the opening of the Apple Music Hall, a permanent live music and production space located within the Battersea Power Station in London. The venue, which was famously featured on the cover of Pink Floyd’s 1977 album ‘Animals’, is designed to function as both a concert venue and a high-tech recording facility.
With a capacity for 600 people, the hall features a 38-foot wide stage, a spatial audio system with 48 speakers, and infrastructure for 16 or more cameras. This setup allows artists to perform for a live audience while simultaneously producing multi-track recordings, spatial audio mixes, and multi-camera video content for global distribution through the Apple Music ecosystem.
The project, internally referred to as ‘Project Apollo’, represents a multi-million pound investment aimed at strengthening Apple’s services business. By integrating live performances with professional production capabilities, the company seeks to expand its presence in the music industry beyond digital streaming.
