Apple reportedly cancels foldable MacBook and mid-sized OLED models
Apple has reportedly halted development on several ambitious laptop projects, including a large foldable MacBook and a mid-sized OLED MacBook Pro. According to a product roadmap from research firm Omdia, the foldable model, which was expected to feature a display between 16.1 and 18 inches, has been removed from future plans.
Additionally, a rumored 14.4-inch OLED MacBook designed to sit between the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro has also been scrapped. This shift suggests Apple may be opting for a more conservative design strategy to maintain clear distinctions between its Air and Pro product lines.
However, Apple continues to pursue OLED technology for other models. Omdia indicates that a new 13.8-inch OLED MacBook could be introduced toward the end of 2028 or early 2029. This model may feature an LTPO+ backplane, an under-panel camera to eliminate the display notch, and potentially a touchscreen interface.
