Apple to unveil touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro at October 28 event
Apple is scheduled to host a special event titled “Pro and tell” in Los Angeles on October 28, where it is expected to debut its first MacBook Pro featuring a touchscreen and OLED display. The new 14-inch and 16-inch models are anticipated to incorporate the Dynamic Island design and utilize M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, though some reports suggest a potential shift toward M6 chips for other Mac products.
To support touch capabilities, Apple is reportedly developing macOS Golden Gate, a dynamic interface that adjusts controls based on whether the user is interacting via the trackpad or directly with the screen. The new hardware is expected to feature a lighter, thinner chassis and reinforced hinges to prevent screen wobble during touch use.
In addition to the MacBook Pro, the event may include updates to the iPad mini, which is rumored to receive an OLED display and an A20 Pro chip, and potentially new iMac models. The introduction of touchscreens marks a significant strategic shift for Apple, which has historically resisted touch interfaces on its laptop lineup.
