Apple sues OpenAI over trade secrets as Meta scraps $2 B Manus acquisition after China block

Apple has filed a lawsuit alleging that OpenAI stole trade secrets by hiring former Apple staff, claiming that more than 400 ex‑employees moved to the AI firm. Apple says the alleged misconduct could jeopardise OpenAI’s planned initial public offering later this year.

Separately, Meta has been forced to abandon its $2 billion purchase of AI startup Manus after Chinese regulators ordered the deal cancelled, citing national‑security concerns and violations of export‑control rules. The cancellation halts Meta’s expansion plans in the Asian AI market.
