Apple to support Xiaomi digital car keys in iOS 27

Code discovered in the iOS 27 beta suggests that Apple is expanding its digital car key functionality to support Xiaomi vehicles. This feature, integrated into the Apple Wallet, will allow users to unlock and start Xiaomi cars using an iPhone or Apple Watch.

The technology is expected to utilize NFC, providing a seamless experience similar to traditional proximity keys. While it is currently unclear if Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology will be included to enable hands-free keyless entry, the integration marks a significant step for Xiaomi's automotive ambitions.

This development coincides with Xiaomi's plans to expand its automotive presence internationally, with indications that Xiaomi Auto may enter the European market by 2027.
