Apple unveils Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 with new health sensors
Apple has unveiled the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4, introducing significant upgrades in health tracking and artificial intelligence. Both models feature the new S11 chip, which enables on-device Apple Intelligence and a redesigned Health Sensing System. This system utilizes improved optical and electrical sensors to provide more frequent heart rate and heart rate variability (HRV) measurements.
A key new feature is the Readiness score, which analyzes activity, sleep, and vitals to provide a daily 0–10 rating and recovery recommendations. The watches also introduce Audio Intelligence capabilities, including Siri Recap and Live Rewind, which allow users to summarize or revisit recent conversations. Apple has emphasized that these audio features are designed with privacy in mind, utilizing a secure hardware enclave to process data without storing audio recordings.
The Apple Watch Ultra 4 offers enhanced battery life, providing up to 50 hours of standard use and up to 84 hours in low-power mode. The Series 12 starts at $399, with pre-orders currently available and retail availability beginning September 18, 2026.
