The Apple Vision Pro is demonstrating significant utility in the medical field, highlighted by the successful completion of the first arthroscopic hip surgery using the device at Duke Health. The procedure utilized Stryker’s SportSuite Vision application, which recently received FDA De Novo authorization. This software allows surgeons to view arthroscopic video feeds and CT imaging directly within their field of view, reducing the need to repeatedly turn their heads to look at external monitors.

Beyond orthopedic procedures, the headset has been utilized in various medical contexts, including spinal surgeries, shoulder arthroscopy, and cataract surgeries. In some instances, the device serves as a primary display for surgeons to access real-time imaging, while in others, it allows surgical nurses to access procedural data and guides within a sterile field without manual handling.
