Apple Wallet introduces card digitization and bill splitting in iOS 27

Apple has introduced significant updates to the Apple Wallet app with the release of iOS 27. One major feature allows users to digitize physical cards, such as gym memberships or loyalty cards, by using the iPhone camera. Through a new Siri mode, the device can recognize barcodes and suggest creating a digital pass, which can then be accessed on the iPhone or Apple Watch.

Additionally, the update introduces an automated bill-splitting tool powered by Apple Intelligence. By taking a photograph of a receipt, the app can recognize individual items, allowing users to select specific products to assign to different contacts. While the tool organizes the division of costs and tips, it does not include a mechanism to force payments from others.

Other enhancements include the ability for Apple Card users to view recurring payments directly within the Wallet app and the option to pin digitized cards to the Smart Stack on compatible Apple Watch models.
