Apple Watch models lose support with watchOS 27 release
Apple has released watchOS 27, a software update that includes new Siri AI capabilities, a tap gesture for the Smart Stack, and a dynamic app grid. However, the update has rendered approximately one million Apple Watch devices obsolete.
Due to the processing requirements of the new features, which necessitate an S9 chip or newer, several older models are no longer compatible. Models losing support include the Apple Watch SE 2, Series 6, Series 7, Series 8, and the original Apple Watch Ultra. The oldest supported models are now the Series 9 and Ultra 2.
