Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 face reboot issues
New Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 models are facing multiple technical reports following their launch. Numerous users have reported unexpected reboots and system crashes. Diagnostic logs suggest the issue is linked to the Apple Neural Engine (ANE), where the processor reportedly hangs for approximately two seconds, triggering a kernel panic and forced restart. These crashes occur during various activities, including using Siri AI, navigating with Maps, making calls, or even when the device is idle.
In addition to stability issues, users have noted a lack of support for the hand-washing detection and timer feature, which was present in previous generations. There are also reports of delays in calculating the new body readiness score due to the data synchronization architecture between the watch and the paired iPhone.
On the hardware side, rumors suggest the devices may contain 128GB of NAND flash memory despite a reported 64GB usable capacity. The new models also feature the S11 chip, improved health sensors capable of measuring heart rate every five seconds, and enhanced battery life, with the Ultra 4 offering up to 50 hours of normal use.
