Aptera orders components for first 40 solar electric production vehicles
Aptera, a California-based electric vehicle company, has reached a major production milestone by ordering major components for its first 40 production vehicles. This move marks the company's closest step toward mass delivery in its nearly 20-year history.
The vehicles are designed for extreme efficiency, utilizing solar charging capabilities that can provide up to 46 miles (approximately 74 kilometers) of range per day while parked in the sun. This feature aims to allow many users to cover daily commutes without needing to plug in.
Production is being centered at the company's facility in Carlsbad, California. Earlier this year, Aptera successfully assembled five prototype vehicles on a production-intent assembly line to validate manufacturing speed and software tools. The initial batch of 40 vehicles will likely be distributed among large-scale and early investors, with some units also designated for continued testing purposes.
