Aptera solar EV exceeds daily energy targets in independent testing

Independent testing by TÜV Rheinland has confirmed that Aptera Motors Corp.’s solar electric vehicle can generate significant daily solar energy. During three days of on-site testing in July at Aptera’s facility in Carlsbad, California, the vehicle delivered between 4.23 and 4.75 kWh of usable energy into its battery pack per day.

This performance exceeds Aptera’s stated target of 4.0 kWh per day, which is estimated to provide approximately 40 miles of range under favorable conditions. The testing, conducted by solar expert Dr. Giorgio Bardizza, utilized calibrated instruments to measure the energy actually reaching the battery after conversion losses, rather than just the raw output of the solar panels.

To account for the vehicle’s curved, teardrop-shaped body and shifting solar angles, the testing team monitored current, voltage, and power across individual solar strings from sunrise to sunset. The results validate the solar range figures displayed on the vehicle’s own interface.
