Aptos token burn reaches 1.9 million APT despite rising supply
The Aptos Layer-1 blockchain has accelerated its token burn rate, destroying approximately 174,000 APT over a 30-day period. This brings the total amount of APT burned since the mainnet launch to roughly 1.9 million tokens.
Despite the increased burn rate, which was aided by a governance proposal that raised gas fees tenfold, the token supply continues to grow. Monthly staking emissions, which reward validators and delegators for securing the network, are estimated at approximately 1.5 million APT. When compared to the monthly burn of roughly 174,000 APT, the network sees a net supply increase of about 1.4 million APT per month.
While transaction fees are permanently removed from circulation, the high rate of new token issuance means the APT token has not become deflationary. Average transaction fees remain low, around $0.0005 to $0.0006, maintaining low costs for users but requiring high transaction volumes to significantly impact the total supply.
