APTRA President Luis Ventura defends radio and addresses internal criticism

Luis Ventura, president of the Association of Television and Radio Journalists of Argentina (APTRA), delivered an energetic speech at the 2026 Martín Fierro Radio Awards to defend the medium's relevance and the autonomy of its awards. Speaking at the Goldencenter in Parque Norte, Ventura rejected claims that radio is dying and noted that he previously refused proposals to air radio awards during television commercial breaks to ensure the sector maintained its own visibility.

Ventura also addressed recent public criticisms from members Daniel Ambrosino and Damián Rojo regarding the organization's management. Ambrosino expressed dissatisfaction with the APTRA official communication channels and requested better treatment of members as jurors. Rojo criticized the organization for perceived inequities in event invitations and questioned the transparency of APTRA's financial reporting. Ventura responded to these challenges by defending the entity's decisions and the vitality of the industry.
